Rangers fans react as club reportedly agree deal to sign Leon Balogun

Rangers have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Leon Balogun on a free transfer with the Nigeria international set to sign a two-year contract at Ibrox – and Gers supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news.

Balogun, 32, is a free agent after his contract expired at Brighton. He was on loan at Wigan during the second half of the 2019-20 campaign, and agreed to sign a short-term deal that saw him finish the season with the Latics.

A 31-time Nigeria international, Balogun was signed by Brighton in 2018 from German side Mainz and impressed at the 2018 World Cup. However, he struggled at Brighton – playing just 12 times.

Since joining Wigan, he has played 11 times since January and been a crucial part of the Latics fight against relegation. Paul Cook’s men were eventually relegated following a 12-point deduction due to administration.

Niko Katic has suffered a long-term injury and it left the Gers needing a replacement at centre-back to add cover for Connor Goldson, George Edmundson and Filip Helander. Balogun now looks as though he is set to join.

Rangers fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news – – that German-born Balogun is set to sign a two-year contract with the Gers. Many believe he will be a good signing for Steven Gerrard’s men.
