Rangers continued their pursuit of a second title yesterday when they beat St. Johnstone 2-1 in Perth.
Steven Gerrard’s side came from a goal behind to claim all three points thanks to goals from Kemar Roofe and James Tavernier.
However, it wasn’t all plain-sailing for the fans watching on.
When Gerrard looked to his bench and introduced John Lundstram with eight minutes left on the clock, the supporters panicked.
The former Sheffield United man, who signed over the summer on a free transfer (), hasn’t lived up to expectation at Ibrox so far.
In Champions League qualifying against Malmo the 27-year-old was below par as Rangers lost 2-1 away from home ().
However, he came on yesterday and helped his side see out a win as the blue half of Glasgow celebrated briefly returning to the top of the league.
It will certainly be a reason to smile for Lundstram, who will be hoping he can play his way into Gerrard’s midfield.

ON: John Lundstram
OFF: Ryan Kent
In Joe Aribo, Glen Kamara and Steven Davis the Gers have a solid midfield trio.
They’ve now started the last three Scottish Premiership matches and look clear as the first choice midfield options.
There will be plenty of opportunities for Lundstram to break in, though.
Rangers next three games come in three different competitions.
On Thursday they face the tough ask of hosting Lyon in the Europa League before welcoming Motherwell to Glasgow on Sunday in league action.
Then, capping off a hat-trick of home games, Ibrox will welcome Livingston in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals the following Wednesday.
It will be impossible to traverse that run of games without rotation, so Lundstram will certainly get his chance to impress and change the fans view on him.
