Rangers fans in awe of Ryan Kent as Gers secure excellent draw away against Lyon
Rangers produced an excellent performance despite Giovanni van Bronckhorst resting some of his biggest players against Lyon in France, drawing 1-1 – and Rangers fans have applauded Ryan Kent for his efforts.
Having won his first four matches in charge, van Bronckhorst made a couple of changes in what was a dead rubber – with the Gers unable to finish any lower, or higher, than second place in their group.
Allan McGregor, Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier were among those to have been rested at the Groupama Stadium. But it did not look like Rangers were under strength, especially in the first half.
The Gers were excellent in the first half, and solid in the second. They had numerous chances, Borna Barisic perhaps needing to do better with a right-footed effort, centre of the goal, curling straight at the goalkeeper.
But it was Kent that created the opener. His gorgeous chip found Glen Kamara, who cut-back to Scott Wright and his effort deflected into the net. Lyon instantly replied after the break, Calvin Bassey scoring an own goal.
What are Rangers fans saying about Kent, after brilliant Thursday outing?
The Gers were excellent and van Bronckhorst keeps his undefeated status as Gers gaffer after five games. But it was Kent that was superb, with the above nutmeg a highlight of his superb night in France.
He lasted the entire 90 minutes and after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, the ex-Liverpool man already looks back to his best in a Rangers shirt. Many applauded the winger for his efforts on Thursday night.
