Rangers grinded out a 2-0 win over Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday afternoon to keep the pressure on Old Firm rivals Celtic but were denied time after time by goalkeeper Mark Gillespie – and Rangers fans are impressed by the Well stopper on Twitter.
Steven Gerrard’s side were tasked with a tricky away trip, just three days after a mammoth defensive effort that saw the Gers qualify for the last 32 of the Europa League with a 1-1 draw against Swiss high-flyers Young Boys.
However, they won 2-0 thanks to goals from Nikola Katic and Alfredo Morelos – though they had to rely on some good defending and a top save from Allan McGregor. Morelos, meanwhile, received his first red card of the season.

It was a frustrating afternoon for the Colombia international, even though he netted his 27th goal of the season to double Rangers’ lead. That was because of 27-year-old goalkeeper Gillespie, who denied Morelos on multiple occasions.
Gillespie was a match for Morelos throughout and only a deflection on Morelos’ goal from Declan Gallagher saw the ball squirm into the net. Morelos’ frustration came to boiling point when he was sent off, for his celebration after scoring.
But former Walsall and Carlisle stopper Gillespie was arguably the man of the match for his display, producing numerous saves and even Rangers supporters praised the Englishman. One fan even suggested Rangers sign the stopper.
Gillespie, who joined Motherwell in the summer of 2018, is out of contract at the end of the season.
I’d be looking at Mark Gillespie as a keeper for a signing

Outstanding save but in fairness the motherwell keeper made a similar amazing save earlier in the game.
Quite a few cracking saves today. Goalkeeping masterclasses today
