Rangers fans discuss Calvin Bassey after a superb display against St. Mirren on Sunday
Calvin Bassey was excellent once again as Rangers produced another solid display to beat St. Mirren at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon. Bassey posted on Twitter, and many Rangers fans applauded the defender in response.
Italian-born Bassey, 21, only played 15 times for Rangers last season after his move from Leicester City. But this time around, injuries have worked in the Nigeria international’s favour – already clocking up 23 appearances.
The defender has started and finished his side’s last 10 Scottish Premiership games – with Rangers keeping six clean sheets in their last six outings. Even when the injured players return, Bassey surely retains his place.
Under Gio van Bronckhorst, Rangers have only conceded two goals – and one of those was to French giants Lyon. Bassey has started every match with the Dutchman in charge. He posted on Twitter after his latest outing.
What have Rangers fans said to Ibrox ace Bassey, after Sunday outing?
Steven Gerrard made some brilliant signings as Rangers manager, and some horrendous ones – Eros Grezda, Umar Sadiq and plenty of other names spring to mind. But Bassey is showing signs he is right up there.
Turning 22 on New Year’s Eve, Bassey is showing enormous amounts of quality – good enough in the Europa League and with every minute he plays, he gets better. Rangers fans have applauded the versatile defender.
