Rangers fans discuss £8m price tag, as Steven Gerrard looks to make Villa raid

Rangers fans discussed reports that Steven Gerrard could lure Borna Barisic to Aston Villa for a bargain £8million – and many are happy to see him go.

Barisic, 29, is one of four names to have been linked with a move down south. The Croatia international was brought to Rangers by Gerrard in 2018.

That is, after playing against Gerrard’s men in Europa League qualifying. Since his move to Glasgow, he has played 126 times for the Gers.

In that time, he has had a hand in 41 goals. His delivery goes under the radar somewhat with skipper James Tavernier on the other side.

But Barisic attacking output excellent, scoring seven times for Rangers and laying on 34 assists. Little surprise Villa and Gerrard want him down south.

say Gerrard is going to table an offer to sign Barisic in January – a bargain £8million. He has a contract until 2024.

What are Rangers fans saying as Villa eye £8m Barisic deal?

Villa do have options at left-back. Matty Targett is first choice and despite some shaky displays, remains one of the first names on the team sheet.

Veteran Ashley Young has rejoined Villa, and having made his name as a left-back at Manchester United and Inter – he can cover on the left side.
