Rangers fans are delighted with Steven Gerrard’s comments on James Tavernier

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has dismissed rumours about an injury to James Tavernier – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have celebrated his comments.

The Scottish giants are currently preparing for Thursday’s Europa League showdown with Royal Antwerp, as the teams meet in the first leg of their Round of 32 tie.

The Daily Mail, as quoted by the , reported that Rangers captain Tavernier could miss the European tie this week after suffering an injury knock in training.

But Gerrard confirmed () Wednesday afternoon that it was “fake news” regarding an injury blow to the 29-year-old Gers defender.

Tavernier, who is the club captain at Ibrox, will be fit for tomorrow night’s European clash with Antwerp.

The attack-minded right-back is such a crucial player to the team, which is why it’s a relief for everyone that injury rumours are false and he’s expected to be in the XI.

He’s played 40 games across all competitions this season, scoring 17 goals and supplying 15 assists in return.
