Rangers coach compares 18-year-old to Champions League winner, Peter Lovenkrands said he has ‘so much talent’
Glasgow Rangers coach Michael Beale has compared Ibrox academy ace Nathan Patterson to Trent Alexander-Arnold, in conversation with .
The 18-year-old Rangers right-back has enjoyed a great year so far, beginning with his exploits during the winter break training camp in Dubai.
Patterson put in an impressive display for the Ibrox side in the mid-season friendly against Lokomotiv Tashkent, following that up with a superb showing against Stranraer in the Scottish Cup fourth round.
The youngster also played a major role in Rangers Colts’ run to the Scottish Challenge Cup semi-finals, captaining Graeme Murty’s charges in the final four, and was in Scottish Premiership matchday squads prior to the league being curtailed.

Beale has now waxed lyrical about Patterson’s ability and attitude, comparing him to Liverpool’s Premier League and Champions League-winning ace, as well as suggesting the youngster will soon be snapping at James Tavernier’s heels in the Rangers first team.
“Nathan’s come in and I think it’s just the impact to train every single day,” . “Tavernier needs to look over his shoulder a little bit.
“I’ve lived this scenario before with Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool; a young right-back who had the same sort of energy, same sort of application to his work, so that’s a nice pat on the back for Nathan. But a word of caution, we’ve got it all to do still.”

Patterson has been making waves at Rangers this year, a young full-back who’s shown he’s a cut above in terms of talent and work ethic.
Being compared to arguably the best right-back in world football is quite a compliment, and Beale isn’t the only one to have recently praised Patterson.
“Nathan has so much talent,” Peter Lovenkrands told the last month. “With his shape and build he has a fantastic stature too.
“He’s tall, athletic, he has an engine that will take him up and down the pitch… I have said before that I look at him like Alan Hutton.
“He has the same style of play, the same build, the same athletic ability to get up and down at speed… I’m very excited about Nathan. He could be very, very good.”
