Rangers boost as reported target has loan cancelled and returns to Chelsea
that midfielder Conor Gallagher has returned to parent club Chelsea halfway through his season-long loan – amid reported interest from a number of sides including Rangers.
Gallagher, 19, has been in stunning form for Lee Bowyer’s side, clocking up 26 appearances in all competitions for The Addicks and even scoring six goals from central midfield. He has established himself as one of the best teenage talents in the second tier.
But Chelsea have decided to recall the England youth international, amid that a whole host of sides want him. Burnley, Norwich, West Bromwich Albion, Millwall and Swansea are all keen, as are Rangers.
Charlton confirmed the news on their official website and Twitter, which sees Gallagher return to Stamford Bridge though it is unclear if he will be going out on loan for a second time this season – or indeed remaining at Chelsea.

TBR’s view – A boost for Rangers?
Gallagher is a supreme talent and having a midfielder that can score and create from midfield on a regular basis would give The Gers all the tools they need to go and stop Celtic from achieving nine in a row.
Rangers boast two excellent full-backs and a top goalkeeper, plenty of impressive central defenders and midfielders. Perhaps out wide, Rangers could do with an addition but up front they boast Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe.
But there is a player or two lacking in the number 10 role. Gallagher can fill that void and his return to Chelsea is a step towards a move to Rangers, if Steven Gerrard is indeed interested.
