that Scott Arfield has withdrawn from Canada’s squad for the international break, after the Rangers midfielder suffered a calf strain – which could see him miss the upcoming Old Firm clash.
Arfield, 30, was picked by Canada to play in the CONCACAF Nations League qualifying match on Sunday against French Guiana because of a calf strain. He is currently Canada’s captain.
The midfielder, signed in the summer on a free transfer from Burnley, has been a mainstay in the starting line-up. He has clocked up 39 appearances, scoring seven goals and creating seven more.
But the midfielder has withdrawn from the squad and is now set to return to Glasgow. Nursing a calf problem, it remains to be seen if he will be fit for the clash between Celtic and Rangers on March 31.

TBR’s view
Losing Arfield is a massive blow to Rangers. In what has been an inconsistent season for Steven Gerrard’s side, ex-Huddersfield Town man Arfield has been one of the side’s most consistent performers.
Rangers need their best players available if they are to claw themselves back into a title race. Arfield is key to that, so having him unavailable will be frustrating for Gerrard.
Potential replacements include Lassana Coulibaly and Steven Davis. But their recent form is not as strong compared to Arfield.
