Rangers are right to move for Josh Maja if Jermain Defoe believes in him

Rangers appear to have one potential Alfredo Morelos lined up in the form of Nigerian international striker Josh Maja.

Steven Gerrard’s men are in the hunt for a new striker, even if Morelos does stay at Ibrox, and the London-born frontman appears to be a potential Rangers recruit.

, Rangers representatives want to discuss a transfer for the 21-year-old, who is currently at French side Bordeaux.

If Rangers were to bring the player in this summer, it would undoubtedly make one Ibrox star happy.

Jermain Defoe is a big fan of the striker, who was being compared to the former England international when the duo were team-mates at Sunderland.

Defoe spoke immensely of Maja, a player with the same lethal finishing streak as Rangers’ experienced striker.

“Josh is a quick thinker and if you’re that fast upstairs you don’t need anything else,” . “The gift Josh has is rare and if he builds on it, the sky’s the limit.”

Maja jas not showcased the same level of scoring prowess in France then he did in his breakthrough at the Stadium of Light. However, if one of the more lethal British finishers of the past 20 years in Defoe is vouching for his striking instincts, you can bet that Maja has what it takes to score goals for Rangers.

With Defoe present, Gerrard and co might even have a better chance of luring the youngster to Ibrox this summer.

Rangers fans will no doubt be keeping an eye on developments with this interest.
