Rangers have rejected an approach from Dundee to take Ross McCrorie on loan for the rest of the season,
They that the Gers want Dundee’s Glen Kamara to join them this month, sooner than the pre-contract agreement he has signed would initially allow, and a counter offer involving McCrorie going the other way on loan was on the table.
But that has been rejected as Steven Gerrard remains keen to keep McCrorie at Ibrox as he seeks to keep his side’s title push going.
With uncertainty over whether Joe Worrall will remain at Ibrox for the rest of the season with new manager Martin O’Neill looking to ease Nottingham Forest’s defensive crisis, McCrorie could prove useful.

McCrorie has played a lot of his football this season as a holding midfielder but he can also play as a centre half and he may be pressed into action in the backline if Worrall leaves the club.
It makes sense for Gerrard to be cautious about losing McCrorie – even as he seeks to bring in Kamara earlier than planned – because of his ability to fill in as part of a backline that has creaked at times this season.
