Given the dramatic journey undertaken by Rangers since 2012, it’s no surprise that outlets across the world have been reporting on Rangers’ title triumph.
Celtic’s failure to see off Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday ensured Steven Gerrard’s men were celebrating a first top-tier Rangers title since 2011, and the fact that Gerrard was at the helm only served to heighten interest around the globe.
In Colombia, it was the presence of fans’ favourite Alfredo Morelos that caught the eye. An American report, meanwhile, stated that the Ibrox side’s improvement is down to a number of players stepping up in order to ensure that they were no longer so reliant on the 24-year-old.

Here’s how Rangers’ title triumph has been reported around the world.
FRANCE – “Kings of Scotland”
“Ten years later, the Rangers are once again the Kings of Scotland” proclaimed , They added: “This title, the 55th in their history, is well deserved”, before claiming that “The formation of Steven Gerrard outclassed the competition”.
Looking ahead to the upcoming derby on March 21, they said Rangers “will then be able to celebrate her coronation during an Old Firm which promises to be thrilling against Celtic, whose national hegemony (9 titles in a row) has therefore ended”.
COLOMBIA – “First title in Morelos’ career”
Understandably, talked up the achievement of Colombian striker Morelos. Referring to the “first title in Morelos’ career”, they highlighted his contribution of 10 goals in this season’s Premiership.
They suggested that the possibility of further progress in the Europa League might affect Morelos’ chances of adding to that tally, saying: “Six games remain for Morelos to improve his record in the local league, although with the title secured, Gerrard’s rotations may appear to focus on the Europa League.”
GERMANY – “The long wait is over”

USA – “Extended their world record”
talked up Rangers’ unbeaten record in 32 Premiership matches this season, and said: “Rangers have now extended their world record tally to 55, one more than Northern Ireland’s Linfield.”
, meanwhile, noted that this season’s team were less dependent on one particular player. They said: “No longer is Gerrard just seemingly reliant on striker Alfredo Morelos.
“Captain James Tavernier, a right back, has scored 17 goals. Goalkeeper Allan McGregor and defender Connor Goldson have been part of the barrier that have seen Rangers concede only nine goals in 32 league games.”
BRAZIL – “Ended a 10-year fast”
With Celtic’s long reigne at an end, said: “Rangers interrupted a streak of nine Celtic titles, which dominated the football scene in Scotland during the crisis of the traditional opponent.”
They added: “Rangers ended a ten-year fast.”
SPAIN – “A different animal”
emphasised the difference between the Rangers side that won this season’s title and the squad inherited by Gerrard in 2018, saying: “When Steven Gerrard took charge at Rangers in 2018, he had a monumental job on his hands.
“The playing squad were still some distance from their city rivals Celtic and had just finished the 2017/18 season in a disappointing third place.
“Fast forward almost three years, though, and this Rangers side are a different animal.”

Pointing out that the fans’ “loyalty never wavered” on “a long and winding journey”, they hailed the job carried out by Gerrard as “nothing short of remarkable”.
They hailed Rangers’ “shrewd acquisitions in the transfer market” and how they’ve been managed by Gerrard, saying: “Every player knows their role inside out, and many who know the Scottish game well have said that they’re one of the best-coached sides they’ve ever seen.”
Reflecting on the post-Dubai slumps that cost Rangers in 2019 and 2020, Marca said: “Gerrard and his players have learned their lessons from past mistakes and ensured that they weren’t to be repeated this term.”
Praising their “countless clean sheets” and “expansive, free-flowing football”, the Spanish outlet called them “imperious” and “simply relentless”.
Calling it “the most important league title in this club’s history”, they concluded: “It’s difficult to put into words what this league trophy means to Rangers and their supporters after 10 years of hurt.”
