Rangers and Celtic hold talks with 24-year-old, player confirms he wants move

Rangers and Celtic have both held talks over a move to sign Dundee United midfielder Jeando Fuchs – according to the Cameroon international himself, ahead of the January transfer window.

Fuchs, 24, is out of contract at the end of the season and can be signed on a pre-contract arrangement beforehand. He is certainly impressing for Dundee United, playing 20 times in all competitions this term.

A two-time Cameroon international, Fuchs joined United from Spanish side Alaves – despite failing to ever make a senior appearance for the Spanish side. But he is said to be inundated with offers.

That is according to the man himself. , Fuchs confirmed he has interest from all over Europe including both Glasgow sides – who are said to have made contact.

“I am at the end of my contract in May. I’m waiting to see something concrete and see if I have a choice to make at that time. I am not in a hurry,”

“There has been contact with Blackpool, Peterborough, Stuttgart and Wigan. There has been from Celtic and Rangers as well, but nothing more. A Premier League club as well. England would be good.”

Celtic and Rangers eye Fuchs: Do either Old Firm side need him?

While he is impressing for United, Fuchs is some way off showing the required quality and consistency needed to start for either Celtic and Rangers. On a free, he is a useful signing.

But he does not improve either side – more just adds to their midfield depth. Of course, Rangers might need a midfielder with Steven Davis getting older and Glen Kamara being linked with a move away.

Celtic lack cover in the middle of the park, but still have Ismaila Soro and Nir Bitton as back-up. A good signing for squad depth, especially as it would be on a free, but nothing more.
