Rangers 0-1 Celtic: Three things we learned from the Old Firm semi-final

Big hit Dembele already on the road to being a great

The £500,000 transfer fee Celtic paid Fulham to acquire the services of French youngster Moussa Dembele looked a steal the moment they bought him. Now Fulham will be left thinking they were short changed in the whole saga. He had already helped himself to a hat-trick in Celtic’s comprehensive win over Rangers at Parkhead last month, and with another crucial strike in his second game against their Glasgow rivals at Hampden Park no less, Celtic fans are already viewing the Frenchman as a prized asset.

Unfortunately, modern football dictates that Celtic are unlikely to keep the forward forever, but he has already given them memories to cherish for years to come and harvests hope that Celtic can go on to complete the treble this term. The 20-year-old striker has scored twice already in the Champions League, along with a total of four Old Firm goals out of a total of 14 in all competitions so far this season. He also netted on his debut for the French Under-21s and his progress dictates that clubs will come knocking on the door in due course. When he eventually does move on, his progress will surely command a hefty fee, and if the Bhoys can continue pulling off steals like this, maybe European football won’t seem such a rare commodity at Celtic Park anymore.
