Ramon Vega says Tottenham need to sign player in January, Graham Roberts thinks Spurs miss £17m man

Ramon Vega believes Tottenham lack a creative midfielder despite the 2-1 win over Villa – and Graham Roberts thinks Spurs miss Christian Eriksen.

Spurs edged past Dean Smith’s side on Sunday, thanks to goals from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Lucas Moura – which has been credited to Matt Targett.

Villa netted through Ollie Watkins, but Spurs kept Villa at arm’s length to win their fourth Premier League match from seven league games.

Son Heung-min got two assists, easily proving to be the difference. Even Villa boss Smith was complimentary, labelling the winger as “outstanding”.

However, Vega and Roberts think something is missing. Tanguy Ndombele played in the 10 role, but he struggled to have a lasting impact on the game.

Vega believes Spurs need a new attacking midfielder, despite Dele Alli and Gio Lo Celso on the bench. Roberts agrees with a fan, Spurs miss Eriksen.

Tottenham need player like Eriksen, as Roberts and Vega comment

Eriksen was sensational for Spurs and while it ended on bad terms, they need a player capable of magic. He could produce something out of nothing.

Spurs do not have an attacking midfielder that can do that. Dele is better getting on the end of things, as a second striker, rather than as a no.10.

Gio Lo Celso is a victim of his own versatility, struggling to hold down one role – but being decent in numerous. Tanguy Ndombele’s fitness is a doubt.

So, Spurs could do with an attacking midfielder – one like the player they sold in Eriksen, for £17million (. But he is a rarity.

But if Spurs need a man to find a needle in a haystack, they certainly have it – in the form of sporting director Fabio Paratici. Time will tell.
