The former Chelsea forward will move to Spurs initially on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Tottenham will have the option to make the deal permanent in the summer of 2024 and will cover his wages in full.

Manchester United have also been linked, but it is Tottenham who have won the race for Werner.

As you can see, former Tottenham player Ramon Vega is pleased to see the North London club being on the verge of bringing Werner to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The pundit believes that the speed and power of the 27-year-old would make Spurs better.

My View: Tottenham Hotspur need to temper expectations of Timo Werner

In my view, Tottenham Hotspur have to lower their expectations of Timo Werner.

We know from his time at Chelsea that he is not a great goalscorer, at least not in England.

During his time at Chelsea, the 27-year-old scored 10 goals and gave nine assists in 56 appearances in the Premier League.

Things have not gone well for him at RB Leipzig since his return to the German club in 2022.

Werner scored nine goals and gave three assists in 27 Bundesliga matches last season.

The Germany international forward has scored two goals in eight appearances in the Bundesliga this campaign.

Werner clearly is not in good form at the moment. Yes, we know that he is very fast, but that alone is not going to cut it in the Premier League.
