Ralph Hasenhuttl hints one of two Southampton players could leave
Ralph Hasenhuttl has admitted, , that one of either Fraser Forster or Angus Gunn could leave Southampton this summer with Alex McCarthy set to start the campaign as their number one.
The goalkeeper situation has probably divided fans’ opinions throughout the summer. McCarthy ended last season as first-choice, but Gunn has stepped in previously and is still developing.

Meanwhile, Forster is something of a wildcard. He was outstanding during his loan spell at Celtic and had seemingly restored his confidence after a tough couple of years.
But Hasenhuttl has put the debate to bed for now. The Southampton boss confirmed his number one for the start of the season. Interestingly, he also opened the door for one of the two other stoppers to potentially move on.

“He will stay with us at the moment. Alex McCarthy is our number one as he has developed a lot lately,” he said, , when asked about Forster.
“The other two, one will maybe leave us and the other will stay with us.”
McCarthy does look to be the wise pick for the number one spot. And it will be very interesting to see whether Forster or Gunn will move on in some capacity.
Celtic have since signed Vasilis Barkas. So a return to Parkhead arguably looks unlikely at this stage for the England international.
And that may be a similar problem at a number of clubs who may be interested in signing either goalkeeper.
The season is either underway or days away from starting. It seems highly unlikely therefore, that many clubs will be looking to sign a new first-choice goalkeeper.
So both Forster and Gunn may have to keep that in mind should either decide that they want to leave this summer.
