Rafa Benitez must target Gary Cahill reunion as Chelsea make him available
Reports this morning are suggesting that Chelsea are ready to let Gary Cahill leave the club this winter on loan with a view to a permanent exit in the summer. to allow Andreas Christensen and Ethan Ampadu to progress at Stamford Bridge. He is then out of contract in the summer and will be allowed to leave on a free transfer.
It has led to many clubs being linked with his potential signature. Newcastle United must be one team keen on bringing him in.
Cahill has a strong relationship with Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez. During the Spaniard’s spell at Stamford Bridge, Cahill was a regular member of the Chelsea back-line.

When Chelsea won the Europa League in 2013, it was with Cahill at centre-back with Branislav Ivanovic. With club captain John Terry out with a niggling knee injury for most of Benitez’s time at Chelsea, Cahill stepped up and thrived under the Spaniard.
Newcastle United have options at centre-back. Jamaal Lascelles is undroppable whilst Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez and Florian Lejeune provide vital back-up. However, that said, none of them have the experience of Cahill in the Premier League.
The idea of partnering Lascelles and Cahill together in the long-run is an opportunity that Newcastle will surely not want to miss, especially with Benitez in charge.
If they can agree to a cut in his wages, then Newcastle should certainly take up this opportunity.
