Rafa Benitez delivers honest verdict on Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold amid Real Madrid links
Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold continues to face an uncertain future at Anfield amid links with Real Madrid.
As things stand, Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of three Liverpool stars set to be out of contract at the end of the season.
Mohamed Salah’s contract talks are said to be going well, while Virgil van Dijk is expected to re-sign with Liverpool.
However, there has been radio silence regarding the Liverpool academy graduate. Alexander-Arnold says his decision will be made privately without any media attention.
TBR Football exclusively revealed in January that Alexander-Arnold is ready to confirm that he wants to join Real Madrid, though there’s no total agreement as of yet.
Now, former Liverpool and Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez has given his verdict on Alexander-Arnold’s future.

Rafa Benitez believes Trent Alexander-Arnold would thrive at Real Madrid
Benitez, speaking to Sky Sports, has claimed that Alexander-Arnold would thrive at Real Madrid.
Benitez believes that if Alexander-Arnold joined Real, their attacking style would suit his game “for years” to come.
“For an offensive defender in an offensive team, you have more chances to make assists and to create situations in attack that will be good for him as a player,” said Benitez.
“He is doing that at Liverpool so it is not a surprise but with Real Madrid you can guarantee he will do that for years.”
Benitez stopped short of specifying which decision he’d prefer Alexander-Arnold to make, suggesting he’d be happy with both.
“As a Liverpool fan you will say if he stays it is much better because he will give us something special,” he continued.
“But if he goes, as a Real Madrid kid all my life, it will be good for Real Madrid and him.”
What Mark Lawrenson has said about Trent Alexander-Arnold future
Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson recently discussed Alexander-Arnold’s situation on Off The Ball.
Lawrenson said he simply doesn’t understand why Alexander-Arnold is being so secretive about his future.
“To be honest with you, if he is I’d like him to say that I’m staying until the end of the season and the I’ll look elsewhere,” said Lawrenson.
“Liverpool fans will say ‘great, he’s won everything.’ But this thing about not saying anything. I don’t get it.
“Stand up and be a man and say ‘look this has been fab, I’ve loved every minute of it. I’m a local lad but I’m going to go elsewhere.’ You know what, good luck to you.
“There wouldn’t be a backlash at all, he’s one of their own, he’s a brilliant footballer. He’s a right-back they can be replaced.
“They have one in there already but they can probably buy another one. I don’t think there will be any backlash, no I don’t.”
