Radu Dragusin’s mum may already have given away the reason he chose Tottenham over Bayern

Tottenham Hotspur have seemingly beaten Bayern Munich to the signing of Genoa centre-back Radu Dragusin.

Spurs agreed a deal with the Italian outfit on Tuesday morning after being locked in talks with Genoa for the past week.

But Bayern Munich launched a bid to sign Dragusin later that evening, with reports stating they were ‘very confident’ of hijacking Tottenham’s move.

Spurs fans would be forgiven for fearing the worst when Bayern threatened to scupper their move for Ange Postecoglou’s top defensive target.

Yet, Dragusin has opted to join Tottenham over the Bundesliga champions and put an end to an eventful transfer saga.

And while many may be surprised by the 21-year-old’s decision, his mum may have already revealed the reason behind his choice back in November.

Speaking to Romanian outlet back in November, Svetlana Dragusin admitted it was her son’s childhood dream to play in the Premier League.

“I wish for him to reach where he set out to (go to),” she said. “And he really wants to reach England.

“This is his childhood dream.”

Not many would have expected Dragusin to turn down a huge club like Bayern in favour of a move to Tottenham.

The Romanian defender would have been almost guaranteed trophies in Munich, which is part of the reason why Harry Kane left Spurs to join them over the summer.

Yet, it has already been reported that .

It would appear that he’s honoured his initial agreement with Spurs and Postecoglou is finally closing in on a centre-back signing.

Spurs would love to have Dragusin involved on Sunday as they travel to Old Trafford.

With Ben Davies and Cristian Romero currently sidelined, it felt crucial that Tottenham snap up a new centre-back swiftly this month.
