Radrizzani responds when asked by Leeds fan if club will sign a new midfielder

Andrea Radrizzani has responded on Twitter when asked by a Leeds United fan if the club will sign a midfielder – simply replying: “Adam Forshaw”.

The Whites have only made one real addition to their starting XI this summer, bringing Junior Firpo to the club from Barcelona for £13million.

Elsewhere, Kristoffer Klaesson has been bought for less than £2million as a replacement for Kiko Casilla. Jack Harrison is permanent, for £15million.

But the only other additions have come at Under-23 level, in Lewis Bate, Amari Miller and Sean McGurk. Leeds fans are becoming frustrated.

So much so, that one Leeds fan asked Radrizzani on Thursday afternoon if the club are going to sign a new midfielder. : “Forshaw”.

Radrizzani backs Forshaw: Can he be new Leeds signing?

Forshaw, 30, has fought back after almost two years to finally overcome a hip problem. He played 60 minutes during Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Crewe.

While it looked as though the £4.5million signing could have continued, the Leeds physios are only allowing baby steps. An hour was enough.

He was very good against Crewe – albeit against a third-tier side. But Forshaw is the type of player Leeds currently need in midfield.

They need one that can cover Kalvin Phillips, but also play slightly more forward. Huddersfield star Lewis O’Brien is a target.

While Leeds fans will be frustrated by Radrizzani’s lack of signings, Forshaw deserves his chance – and could be a better option than O’Brien.
