Liverpool may need to give up hope of landing Adrien Rabiot from PSG as report that the midfielder is set to stay in Paris. His contract runs out of the end of the season, but it is thought to be his desire to remain with the French champions.
This is a blow for Liverpool, as he had emerged as one of their main targets. Jurgen Klopp has slowly built a good side at Anfield and Rabiot would have been an excellent addition.
However, the latest developments are positive for Jordan Henderson. The club captain has been down the pecking order this season and the signing of Rabiot would have been very damaging to him.

Henderson has started only four of the Premier League matches this season. As club captain, that will be disappointing for him.
Klopp is always likely to rotate his midfielders, but Henderson would have hoped for a more prominent role.
Although supporters will be disappointed if the club fail to land Rabiot, it will provide an opportunity for Henderson to prove his worth to the club. He simply must take it.
At the age of 28, Henderson needs to establish himself as a key player under Klopp to prove that Liverpool don’t need to sign another high-profile midfielder.
