‘Quality player’… Ange Postecoglou left seriously impressed with £15m Tottenham player last night
Ange Postecoglou has lauded Tottenham Hotspur new boy Timo Werner after his display against Brentford last night.
Timo Werner put in his best display in a Spurs shirt so far after being heavily involved in two goals on the night.
Spurs struggled to break down a resilient Brentford side in the first half and trailed at the break following Neal Maupay’s early strike.
Tottenham came flying out of the blocks after the break and netted three goals in the opening 11 minutes of the second half.
Werner linked up with Destiny Udogie down the left-hand side before the Italian netted an equaliser.

Just a minute after the goal, the German was set away down the left-hand side once again and picked out Brennan Johnson with an exceptional ball across the box.
It handed the Welshman a simple tap in and Richarlison grabbed a third for Spurs just minutes later. And it’s fair to say that Werner’s display has impressed his new boss Ange Postecoglou.

Speaking to after last night’s win, Postecoglou singled out Werner for praise and labelled the forward a ‘quality’ player.
“I thought he was great,” he said. “First half we probably didn’t support him enough in that left channel, he was a little bit isolated.
“Second half we got some better service to him. He’s a quality player, I think he’s proven at this level, and as he gets stronger and fitter and understands our game a little bit better, I think he’ll become even more effective.
“And I know there’s goals in him as well that will come for Tottenham, so I thought he was good.”

Werner has settled in well since joining from RB Leipzig on loan earlier this month.
Tottenham will have the option to make the move permanent for a fee worth this summer.
Based on his start to life at Spurs, you’d imagine that Postecoglou will be keen to make this a permanent move should the 27-year-old continue to impress.
