Tottenham tipped to sign Leeds player who is ‘different class’, pundit says he could be perfect for Conte

Tottenham will be looking for a new number one in the coming seasons and Charlie Adam has tipped Leeds’ Illan Meslier as a potential replacement.

Lloris has made more than 400 appearances for Tottenham and will go down as a club legend. However, some recent performances have called into question Spurs’ decision to keep playing Lloris without a viable back up coming through the ranks to replace him.

Of course, Spurs are said to hold an interest in Meslier anyway and speaking on Stadium Astro, former Liverpool midfielder Adam believes the Frenchman could be one that Tottenham consider.

“Possibly, possibly. He’s a young kid that’s had a couple years experience in the Premier League. He’s made mistakes but Bielsa backed him, Jesse Marsch has backed him. And that’s a confidence thing so maybe someone like Meslier could be the one for Tottenham in the future,” Adam told .

Leeds rate Meslier highly and would look for a big fee to let the young stopper leave. But Tottenham know they need to get Lloris’ replacement lined up, so could be prepared to pay the big bucks down the line. And Adam added more comments on Meslier.

“Meslier’s been in the PL a few years now. Pickford has had his ups and downs. Someone that’s had PL experience will help Tottenham go forward.”

TBR’s View: Lloris Being Replaced Is Tough For Tottenham

The problem for Tottenham in signing Illan Meslier is that he’s a number one already at a Premier League club, so he’s not going to want to sit as a number two for long.

To make Meslier number one, Spurs would need to be frank with Lloris and tell him he’s being dropped down the pecking order. And as club captain, that could be hard to take.
