‘Wasteful’: BBC pundit slams Jesse Lingard for not producing for Nottingham Forest at Arsenal

Jesse Lingard once again failed to produce for Nottingham Forest today as they were hammered by in-form Arsenal at The Emirates.

Lingard was a somewhat controversial Forest signing in the summer. And so far, he’s not really produced. The former Manchester United man has yet to score, despite starting games he’s featured in.

Forest are trying to incorporate a number of new signings. Lingard, of course, is one of them. However, while there has been some patience from Forest fans towards their new signings, the pointed out today that Forest simply need far more from their number eleven.

“So far, Jesse Lingard has been quite wasteful in possession. Nottingham Forest need more from him, especially going forward. A little bit more creativity,” Murray said .

Lingard has been regularly featuring for Forest in a three up top under Steve Cooper. However, while the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi seem to be winning Forest fans over, Lingard seems some way off that.

Certainly, performances like the one at Arsenal today will do little to encourage Forest fans further.

TBR’s View: Forest should look at dropping Lingard after Arsenal

Steve Cooper has turned things round a bit at Forest recently but as this season goes on, he’ll face some big calls.

One of those calls might be around Lingard’s form and selection. Sure, we all know the quality he can produce. But he’s not bringing it to the table right now and with Forest signing so many new players, someone might be putting their hand up soon.

Lingard has got to do better. He’s on big money at Forest. With that comes responsibility and of all the players in the squad, he should know how to handle pressure. In a nutshell, Forest have a right to expect far more from Lingard.
