Pundit says Tottenham player was ‘amazing’ vs Everton

Robbie Mustoe has lauded Richarlison after the Tottenham Hotspur forward bagged another goal on Saturday to help Ange Postecoglou’s side beat Everton.

It was Richarlison who broke the deadlock at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The 26-year-old showed some real composure to tuck the ball past Jordan Pickford as he got on the end of a Brennan Johnson cross.

Some would have doubted whether Richarlison would ever be a success at Tottenham. Richarlison went into the game against Newcastle having not scored with his feet for Spurs.

Richarlison starting to shine for Tottenham

But he has now scored four goals in his last three appearances for the club. And with that, he has helped Spurs to three victories on the bounce.

Only Heung-min Son has scored more goals in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season. And speaking on podcast, Mustoe suggested that he has been hugely impressed by the Brazilian’s displays recently.

“Brennan Johnson’s starting to look very comfortable in the team, made a really nice assist for the man of the match really, Richarlison. And his return to form is pretty amazing, pretty impressive,” he said.

“The coolness of his finish from Brennan Johnson’s cross was so like a player that’s confident, doesn’t try and blast the ball. Just passes it into the back of the net.”

Spurs stars taking pressure off their key men currently on the sidelines

It does feel as though Richarlison still has some way to go before he silences all of his critics. His record at Tottenham still stands at nine goals in 51 games.

That is not good enough for someone who cost the club .

But having that confidence will do him the world of good. He is starting to look more lethal in front of goal. And it is potentially significant that he has been assisted by four different players over the last three games. It perhaps shows that he is building those relationships with the likes of Johnson, Son and Dejan Kulusevski.

Tottenham meanwhile, were not at their best yesterday. But they secured another win while they wait for some of their important players to return from injury.

Certainly, it takes a little pressure off James Maddison if he is returning at a time when the likes of Richarlison, Son and Kulusevski are playing brilliantly.
