Pundit says Arsenal shouldn’t sell ‘top-quality’ player next month even if they receive £50m bid
Perry Groves has shared what he would do if Arsenal receive a £50 million bid for Aaron Ramsdale during the January transfer window.
Aaron Ramsdale may be one Arsenal player who attracts bids next month. Of course, the 25-year-old has barely played in the Premier League since losing his place to David Raya earlier this season.
Ramsdale is too good to be a number two. So it is no surprise that he is being linked with a move away from the Emirates ahead of the January window.
Arsenal should not let Aaron Ramsdale leave for £50 million next month
Ramsdale would apparently be open to joining Newcastle. Meanwhile, suggested that Chelsea could look to ramp up their own interest in the England international.

But speaking on , Groves insisted that Arsenal should not be allowing Ramsdale to go anywhere – even if the Gunners receive a bid of up to £50 million.
“Absolutely no chance,” he said.
“‘Sorry Aaron, you’re going to stay until the end of the season. What you’ve done for the club in the past, I’ll let you go at the end of the season’. Because the reason he got David Raya is because he was worried that if Aaron Ramsdale got injured, the drop-off – we’ve seen Matt Turner tonight who was number two last season, the drop-off was far too big.
“Matt Turner was not a good enough goalkeeper to play for Arsenal. So getting David Raya, I get it, 100 percent. So there’s no way he’s going to let Ramsdale go because you’ve got two top-quality goalkeepers there.”
Mikel Arteta may have a number in mind
There may be a figure in Edu and Mikel Arteta’s mind which makes selling Ramsdale seem worthwhile. Of course, there is almost no incentive to let him leave on loan or for a decent price.
But Arsenal will have targets of their own in the January window. And judging by the fact that they signed Raya on an initial loan in the summer, it would appear that they may not have a huge amount to spend next month.
So if they receive an offer of £50 million for their back-up goalkeeper, that may be tempting depending on which players Arsenal wish to sign.
It would be a gamble. But the Gunners may want to take one or two risks after coming so close to winning the Premier League title last year.
Clearly, the bid would have to be a lot higher before Groves would be tempted to cash in.
