Pundit lauds exciting Arsenal youngster Joe Willock

Tony Cascarino has lauded exciting Arsenal youngster Joe Willock for his recent form during a loan spell at Newcastle United.

He has waxed lyrical about the midfielder during a recent piece he did for and has suggested he deserves a chance.

Willock was in fine form for the Magpies as the season drew to a close. He scored seven goals in the last seven matches he played for Newcastle.

“You have to ask the question of why Joe Willock wasn’t kept at Arsenal when they are missing a goalscoring central midfielder.

“Willock is only 21 but has come on leaps and bounds physically and is seeing the reward in goals scored.

“Willock will lose confidence if he goes back to Arsenal and struggles for minutes, in the same way Ruben Loftus-Cheek did after a successful loan at Crystal Palace didn’t convert to game time at Chelsea.”

Arsenal star in the making

At 21 the future looks seriously bright for Willock – and it’s time for Arteta to hand him a chance.

The likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka have shone at the Emirates Stadium and Willock could be next.

The player was superb for Newcastle and did everything possibly to prove a point to Gunners boss Arteta.

Arsenal can’t keep letting their youngster slip through the net and they have to at least give Willock a proper chance.

The talent can play either as a No.10 or as a central midfielder and that versatility could be useful.

Arsenal won’t be playing European football next season and that could hamper their transfer plans.

As a result, it could be the perfect chance to hand Willock a chance to impress at the Emirates Stadium.
