Pundit baffled after what Brendan Rodgers has done with 28-year-old Celtic player this season
Celtic’s decline this season under Brendan Rodgers has left many fans, pundits and former players scratching their heads.
Alistair Johnston, Greg Taylor and even Callum McGregor don’t look anywhere near the players that they were under Ange Postecoglou.
But it’s the dramatic fall in the form of Kyogo Furuhashi that has puzzled Gordon Dalziel the most.
The radio pundit was poring over Celtic’s Saturday’s defeat to Hearts when he said that the Celtic striker’s role in the team has left him totally confused.
Dalziel said [], “First and foremost some of the games theﷺy have played, some of theꦕ team selections have been a bit baffling for me.
“He’s changed🌟 one or two like Kyogo trying🐠 to come in and play a bit deeper. I think everybody looks at that and thinks that Kyogo is most dangerous playing on the shoulder and would make those runs.
“I think if you look at the players like Taylor, for instance, last year, even Johnston at fullback they’ve not hit the heights.🎉 And when that happens then the manager comes under a bit of pressure.
“And you look at the substitutions for instance at the weekend which baffled m♒e as well.”
Kyogo was the deadliest striker in Scotland over the past two seasons. Voted the Player of the Season by his peers and his teammates last season and finishing as the Scottish Premiership‘s top goalscorer, the Japan international was at 🅰the peak of his powers.
However, under Brendan Rodgers, the 28-year-old looks a shadow of the player he was under Ange Postecoglou.
There is no more of those darting runs, no m▨ore confused defenders as they wonder where the hell he ran to and no more goals.
T🅷hey have simply dried up. At this point of the season, Kyogo should be well into double figures. He’s scored six in the SPFL, eight overall. []

There is something fundamentally not quite right with how Kyogo is being played. Look at this way, against Hearts, Celtic had 22 shots on goal. Only five☂ of those were on target. []
If Kyogo was in the right place at the right time as he was last season, there is no question Celtic walk off the Parkhead pitch with 𝄹a♈ll three points as he would have found the back of the net at least once.
Rodgers needs to fix wh𝕴at is clearly broken with Kyogo because if he doesn’t this could wind up being a season the Celt✨ic fans want to forget.
