‘Like Frank Lampard’: Pundit backs £100,000-a-week Tottenham player for success under Conte
Paul Merson has told Sky Sports thatcould start to rediscover himself at Tottenham under Antoni Conte.
The Italian manager replaced Nuno Espirito Santo earlier this week after leaving Inter last season.
Conte is a serial title-winner. He won league crowns with Juventus, Chelsea and Inter, with the boss respected in the world of football.
Espirito Santo was axed after five wins and five losses from his 10 Premier League games in charge of Tottenham.

Alli initially started as a regular in his team. The 25-year-old has managed just 17 minutes of football during Espirito Santo’s last four games though.
Now, the England man has to impress another manager. He struggled to do so when Jose Mourinho arrived and the midfielder will hope Conte fancies him.
Merson thinks he could be in line for a starring role under the new Tottenham manager.
“I think he’s got a chance with Conte – he’s got to be like a Frank Lampard, breaking into the box and scoring goals.
“It’s always difficult when a new manager gets in; those who were not getting much time have a chance.”
Exciting: Alli must grasp chance to impress new Tottenham boss
It doesn’t seem long ago that people were touting Alli to be the poster boy of English football for many years to come.
His career has stagnated in recent times and that simply won’t do. He must use Conte arriving at Tottenham as the chance he needs to kick on.

Alli is at his lethal best when he’s arriving late into the box and scoring goals to help the team.
If Conte can find a way to get the man doing that again, then he could hit the jackpot.
