PSG signing Silva target Doucoure could help Everton keep Gueye

Paris Saint-Germain are chasing two Premier League central midfielders this month, according to various reports.

that PSG are hoping to sign Everton star Idrissa Gana Gueye for £30m but Everton want to keep him.

Alternatively, PSG could swoop for Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure, , who also claim that Everton are keen on the midfielder.

Marco Silva worked with Doucoure at Watford and fancies a reunion with the Frenchman.

However, PSG look more likely to sign the 26-year-old after he revealed his plans to leave Watford .

But Everton missing out to PSG in pursuit of Doucoure could be a blessing in disguise; it could lead to Gueye staying.

Gueye has been such an important player in Everton’s side over the last few years, acting as the holding midfielder in front of the defence.

The 29-year-old works well alongside Andre Gomes this season and Everton look a much better side when he is present in the midfield.

In 19 Premier League games this season, the Senegal international has made 74 tackles, 45 interceptions, 36 blocks and 25 clearances, .

His ability to win the ball back is central to Everton’s success and losing him would be a major blow.

PSG signing Doucoure would probably end their interest in Gueye – for now – which boosts Everton in the short-term.
