PSG director Leonardo comments on Tottenham-linked Edinson Cavani
as saying that Edinson Cavani has handed in a transfer request over the weekend, amid links with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
Despite scoring 198 goals in 293 games for PSG, 32-year-old Cavani has struggled for game time under Thomas Tuchel this season. The Uruguayan forward has only been used 14 times, starting just six matches in all competitions.
The 116-time international is set to see his contract expire at the end of the season, and that has seen him linked with both north London clubs. Arsenal want Cavani, while reckon Spurs are considering a move.
Spurs need a striker after Harry Kane’s injury, and Arsenal may consider Cavani with doubts arising over the future of both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. Leonardo commented on Cavani, and said an offer had been rejected.

“Today he asked to leave,” “We’re studying the situation. We’ve had a proposal from Atletico Madrid, but that proposal was not commensurate with the player’s value. For Cavani, we’re listening.
“We’re looking to the future. It’s a bit clearer, for the player, for the future. We’ll see how it develops over the next few days. We’re listening because we respect the player.”
TBR’s view – Who needs Cavani more?
It goes without saying that Tottenham need Cavani more than Arsenal. With Kane injured until April and claims that the England skipper could be ruled out until the summer, the north Londoners are without a senior forward.
Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Watford showed that they lack the striker that can score the goals to take them to the next level. But can Spurs afford Cavani? PSG want £12million for him, but that he earns £288,000 a week.
Whether either club can afford him remains to be seen, but Spurs certainly need Cavani more.
