Prutton makes prediction ahead of West Brom clash vs Leeds
David Prutton that he is expecting West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United to play out a 2-2 draw when they meet at the Hawthorns on New Year’s Day.
The Championship’s top two meet on Wednesday, with league leaders Leeds looking to stay ahead of the Baggies, who are only behind on goal difference.

A winner will certainly receive a massive boost in the promotion race. They will be at least nine points clear of the chasing pack, and three clear of their opponents.
But ahead of the game, Prutton suggested that it may be the teams inside the play-off places who are happiest with the result he is expecting.

“This should be a great game,” . “Only goal difference separates the two sides at the top of the table heading into it, and whoever wins will be taking another big step towards automatic promotion. West Brom suffered just their second defeat of the season on Sunday, while Leeds won an incredible game 5-4 at Birmingham. Safe to say I didn’t predict that particular scoreline!
“Leeds edged this one when the two sides met at Elland Road earlier in the season, and it’s such a tough game to call. The sides below will hope it’s a draw so both teams drop points, and I think both will.”

The promotion race is clearly not going to be decided by this game. But it will certainly be about as big a three points as possible for either side should they win.
A draw may open the door for the gap to close. But it would not be a huge surprise if it was also a result that many supporters on both sides would take before the game.
A loss in this game could be fairly damaging. And a share of the points perhaps acts as a reminder of how tough it will be to get across the line.
Certainly, if Bilic or Bielsa are speaking to a winning side after the game, their first message will be to remind their team how long is left this season and how dangerous any complacency could be.
