‘Proving me wrong’: Some Everton fans hail one player’s ‘impeccable’ display at Brighton
A number of Everton fans have waxed lyrical about Andros Townsend following his impressive display today.
The Toffees have now picked up seven points from a possible nine in the Premier League this season.
After beating Southampton and drawing at Leeds, Everton ran out 2-0 winners at Brighton.

Demarai Gray opened the scoring on 41 minutes with a a driving run into the penalty area and neat finish.
Everton then doubled their lead just before the hour from the penalty spot.
Seamus Coleman was brought down in the box and Dominic Calvert-Lewin made no mistake from 12 yards.
Another positive result for the Blues and three more points on board, the team answering their critics once again.
Like Rafa Benitez, Townsend’s arrival at Goodison Park was met by a mixed reception.

But the 30-year-old once again did well for the Blues, both in attack and defensively.
Townsend looked especially sharp in the first half, forcing a save from Robert Sanchez.
He also dropped back to cover for Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure multiple times and made plenty of tackles.
Townsend even helped diffuse the situation when Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin were arguing over who should take the penalty.
Here is what some Everton fans on Twitter said about the former Crystal Palace ace:
This is the everton we have been looking for. Fight, commitment and desire. Townsend making that block highlights it

Rafa proving me wrong. Gray proving me wrong. Townsend proving me wrong. Iwobi proving me wrong. It's early days but it's safe say shut up David.

Hats off to whoever has the idea of bringing Gray and Townsend to Everton. I had minimal expectations but they have started very well under Benitez.

Andros Townsend is such a fierce competitor. Was booed for most of the game, never flagged and eventually the Brighton fans gave up and left.

Popped up with a bit of magic when Everton most needed it at Huddersfield too.
89' Townsend's defensive work has been impeccable today.
