‘Privilege to watch’… Pundit says 20-year-old Leeds youngster has improved so much recently

Leeds United’s U21s have produced a number of talented players in recent years.

The Whites’ academy remains one of the best in the country, and even if not every player makes it in the first-team at Elland Road, they’re often set up for success elsewhere.

This week, Charlie Allen headed out on loan to York City, and with his contract expiring in the summer, it may be the end of the road for the 20-year-old at Leeds.

However, that isn’t to say he doesn’t have a bright future in the game, and speaking in the , Ben Parker has claimed that the youngster is indeed on the right track and has been improving a lot recently.

Charlie Allen has been much improved

Parker spoke about the youngster.

“Yeah Charlie is a player over the past 18 months or two years who has developed loads. He’s come on a lot. It’s been a privilege to watch him in the U21s. York have a good player on their hands, he’ll fit in straight away, I wish him all the best and he just needs to play games now, a good opportunity for him,” Parker said.

Big opportunity

Allen may not make it to the top at Leeds, but this is a big opportunity to get something of a foothold in the men’s game.

A loan spell in the lower leagues is the perfect platform for a young player to show what they’re all about, and who knows? Perhaps Allen could even impress enough to get another contract and another shot at Leeds.

At the age of just 20, this young man is far from the finished product, and as Parker says, he has developed a lot in recent years, so if he continues on that path, he could have a bright future in the game.
