‘Pretty much done’: Journalist says ‘exceptional’ player’s Arsenal exit should be confirmed next week

Matteo Guendouzi is set to leave Arsenal next week when his loan deal to Marseille is turned into a permanent exit.

That is according to journalist Charles Watts on his channel, who has said that the deal will soon be done.

It seems like plenty of transfer business is accelerating now that the end of season international break has finished.

Guendouzi was away with France, who endured a disappointing Nations League campaign, losing some momentum as they head towards the defence of their World Cup.

Guendouzi to leave Arsenal next week

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we see an announcement or a confirmation on Mateo Guendouzi in the next week. I’d keep your eyes peeled for that, possibly, not over the weekend but maybe next week when it comes to Guendouzi completing his move to Marseille.

“We know it’s already pretty much done. It was a done deal when he signed the loan agreement last season.

“There were only a few clauses that if they weren’t hit, he would stay but they were things like Marseille getting relegated which was never going to happen. They came second and had a great season. Guendouzi got young player of the year there.

“It will be about £9 million, added to the £1 million loan fee, I don’t think that’s a very good pricetag for a player at his age, as good as he is but Arsenal entered into that deal and they’ve got to see it through.”

Guendouzi has been described as an ‘exceptional‘ talent and Watts made it clear in the video that he thinks he has the talent to offer something to Arsenal.

But Mikel Arteta put in place a deal which would eventually see him leaving north London and that is coming close to completion.

That £9 million will add to the transfer kitty the Gunners can spend this summer, and Arteta has been uncompromising in terms of the players and characters he wants at the club.
