President suggests he would sell player to Chelsea if they bid £14.3m

Chelsea are actively trying to make a signing before the February 3rd transfer deadline.

A run of just one win in seven Premier League outings has provided some cause for concern under Enzo Maresca – with Chelsea slipping down to sixth when many were discussing the Blues as title contenders a matter of weeks ago.

Chelsea are trying to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United as a headline acquisition this winter – while Axel Disasi could be loaned to Aston Villa after the Frenchman agreed personal terms with the Villans.

Now – however – an interesting comment has been made about Chelsea and El Hadji Malick Diouf.

Jaroslav Tvrdik admits he would sell El Hadji Malick Diouf to Chelsea

Jaroslav Tvrdik – President of Slavia Prague – has now spoken in some detail about the Senegal international, after Crystal Palace saw a new €17m (£14.3m bid) rejected.

Interestingly, the 56-year-old suggested he would willingly sell Diouf to Chelsea if the Blues submitted a similar offer.

The quote Tvrdik as saying: “If Liverpool and Chelsea, who were also interested in him, had come with an offer of around €17m – €18m (£14.3m – £15.1m) I would have hesitated to approach it differently, from the perspective of promoting the club or the player’s interest.

“If Chelsea comes, we wouldn’t keep anyone. Nothing will change, it’s just not possible objectively. One has to admit that the Czech league and Slavia have some limits.”

TBR Football understand Chelsea initially showed an interest in Diouf last year – but there has been no suggestion the Blues are keen on signing the Slavia Prague No.12 this winter.

El Hadji Malick Diouf would need to be a regular starter at Chelsea

Tvrdik is not the only figure at Slavia Prague to discuss this saga with the media, as Diouf himself addressed the situation when directly asked about Liverpool and Crystal Palace.

The 20-year-old said: “I don’t know if that is true (about Liverpool). Yes, it sounds nice, but would I play for Liverpool? Would I fit in there? For me, it is essential that I don’t stop. It is difficult to move from the substitute bench. I need to play.”

Therefore, Maresca would surely need to guarantee the left wing-back that he would play regularly at Stamford Bridge if an agreement were to ever materialise.
