President now admits 22-year-old Tottenham player rejected a lot of money in January

Aurelio De Laurentiis – President of Napoli – has now been speaking about Tottenham No.6 Radu Dragusin.

The 74-year-old made the comments when engaging in a press conference.

So, what did Aurelio De Laurentiis say about Radu Dragusin and Tottenham? Let’s take a look…

Dragusin rejected better offer from Napoli to join Tottenham

Well, the Italian claimed that the Romania international actually ignored a better financial offer from Napoli to join Tottenham.

De Laurentiis is by Area Napoli as saying: “I had offered him more than anyone. No one had given him the figures that we would have guaranteed him.

“Genoa replied to me, Bayern Munich are also there, but the boy really wants England. It wasn’t a question of money, because it doesn’t always go like this when you try to sign a footballer. If they tell you that the talent you want to hire is seen elsewhere, aspires to certain leagues, you can’t help but stop. We did our bit, but his choice was different.”

Dragusin – who Ange Postecoglou was apparently desperate to sign – eventually sealed a move from Genoa to Tottenham.

The Romanian is said to have agreed a contract worth £50,000-a-week, according to .

Dragusin can become a fan favourite at Tottenham

Supporters love to hear stories like this, as it shows great commitment to the club straight from the off.

Dragusin – who is just 22 – clearly has no desire to play football simply to fill his pockets.

The defender wants to make a name for himself in Europe’s most demanding league, at a Tottenham side who are only in the infancy of a new project under Postecoglou, which is a bold move.

It surely would have been easier for Dragusin to join Bayern Munich or Napoli – reigning champions of Germany and Italy respectively – where he also would have earned more.

Therefore, it speaks volumes about the Romanian’s character that he chose the harder option – hopefully, his decision pays off.
