President admits he will let £26m striker leave after claims Tottenham are preparing a bid

Tottenham have now received a transfer boost after one President publicly revealed he is open to selling a target for Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs have enjoyed a promising season under the Australian, but a recent run of just one win in four Premier League outings has shown that some areas still need strengthening in N17.

The north Londoners are particularly lacking a reliable source of goals in attack, with only Heung-min Son and Richarlison scoring more than six in the Premier League for Spurs this season.

Ange Postecoglou seems all too aware of this as he shows interest in a forward over in Serie A – and Tottenham would now appear to have a strong chance of pulling this deal off…

Tottenham told Albert Gudmundsson will be allowed to leave

Well, Alberto Zangrillo – President of Genoa – has now admitted that he will not stop Albert Gudmundsson from sealing a dream transfer this summer.

It comes after a story from claimed that Spurs could make a £26m bid for the Iceland international including Djed Spence – who is currently impressing on loan at Genoa.

Gudmundsson has shone in Italy so far this season, scoring goals in 34 appearances – while also providing four assists.

Speaking about the prospect of selling the Genoa No.11 this summer, Zangrillo Radio Sportiva: “He is a young, serious guy who wants to cultivate ambitions that we are not able to guarantee at the moment. It is useless to deny it.

“He has a national and international market, it is correct for both parties to make evaluations, what matters is the final result.

“I don’t deal with these things, let the player dream and leave it open to us to operate correctly on the market. We have learnt to love our boys. We can make good transactions and think that in a few years Albert can say, if it wasn’t for Genoa I would not be here.”

Iceland international could help Heung-min Son

In our view, the signing of Gudmundsson could help Son contribute more in attack.

The South Korea international thrived when playing alongside a partner in Harry Kane – the pair even combined to record the most goal involvements of any duo in Premier League history before the England international left for Bayern Munich (47).

Therefore, with Gudmundsson scoring most of his goals from a secondary striker role this season, the 26-year-old’s attacking threat could help free up space for Son.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as we can certainly see a deal materialising this summer.
