Premier League: Team of the Week XXVII feat. Manchester City and Swansea stars
The chasing pack had the opportunity to take advantage of Chelsea being out of action until Monday during Gameweek 27, and the majority took full advantage. Harry Kane struck twice as Tottenham won a five-goal thriller at home to Everton, whilst Manchester City swaggered to a 2-0 win at Sunderland.
Elsewhere, Liverpool leapfrogged Arsenal with a 3-1 victory over the Gunners at Anfield, which will pile the pressure on under-fire boss Arsene Wenger, who once again has come under scrutiny over his omission of Alexis Sanchez from the starting line-up on Saturday evening. Manchester United were another at the top end of the table who couldn’t take advantage, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic seeing a penalty saved as ten-man Bournemouth held them to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
Near the bottom, Crystal Palace are out of the drop-zone after grinding out a shock 2-0 win at West Brom, and Swansea won a classic at the Liberty Stadium, with Fernando Llorente’s late-winner helping them to a 3-2 win over Burnley. Hull couldn’t maintain their revival after going down 3-1 at a resurgent Leicester, whilst Middlesbrough were on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline at Stoke. The highest scoring affair at the weekend came at Vicarage Road, where Southampton came out on top in an entertaining affair that ended 4-3.
But who were the standout candidates this time round for The Boot Room’s Team of the Week?
