Premier League club pulls plug on move for £30m Arsenal player

Arsenal are expected to be busy on the transfer front in the next few days ahead of the window shutting on Friday night.

The Gunners have now wrapped up two senior signings, with Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino having both joined this summer.

Arsenal are likely to move more players on too, with the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga having already left.

Eddie Nketiah is expected to be one of the next to leave the Gunners, with Crystal Palace having struck a deal for the Hale End graduate.

However, it has now been reported that talks between Arsenal and another Premier League club for a Gunners player have fallen through.

Wolves pull plug on move for Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale

Aaron Ramsdale has been widely tipped to leave Arsenal this summer after losing his first-team place to David Raya.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with the Gunners goalkeeper, but according to BBC Sport’s Nick Mashiter, the move is now “considered off”.

This is because Wolves have reportedly been priced out of a move for Ramsdale, with the overall package said to be too expensive for the Molineux side.

The article reported that Wolves made a loan offer with an option to buy for about £20million, and remained in talks with Arsenal over the weekend.

Ramsdale needs to leave Arsenal

Ramsdale quickly became first-choice at the Emirates Stadium after joining for £30million in 2021, but he lost his place to Raya last season.

The £120,000-a-week stopper () is too good a player to keep warming the bench, and is very much being wasted at present.

For the sake of his own career, he needs to move, and while talks with Wolves appear to have fallen through, there will no doubt be other suitors ready to step up.

Meanwhile, it looks as though Arsenal could be edging closer to the signing of a replacement for Ramsdale.
