Premier League club CEO says he expects ‘world class’ player to stay despite constant links to Arsenal
A Premier League club chief has ruled out the possibility of one of his players departing for Arsenal this summer transfer window.
Arsenal have been biding their time in the window but are now expected to ramp up their business following the completion of Euro 2024.
They’re in the market for a left-footed defender, which is expected to be Riccardo Calafiori, a midfielder and a striker.
Mikel Merino has been heavily rumoured as their midfield target, so too has a Premier League star, who is now expected to stay according to his CEO.

Newcastle CEO expects Bruno Guimaraes to stay
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes over the last few weeks.
Even after his £100m release clause expired, it was still mooted that they could return later in the window with a bid.
Though, Newcastle CEO Darren Eales has now poured cold water on the Arsenal links in a recent interview.
When asked if he expected Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak to stay this summer, he simply replied: “Yes!”
Eales noted that the club no longer have any Financial Fair Play troubles now that the new accounting year has begun, so they aren’t under any pressure to raise funds through player sales.
Arsenal will have to look elsewhere
With Guimaraes now unavailable, Arsenal will have to look elsewhere at alternative targets.
Merino is indeed a player Arteta is keen on and the pair have even had a phone call to discuss a potential move to North London.
Though, it won’t be an easy deal to do as they face stiff competition from Barcelona and Aston Villa, who seem willing to pay his £33m asking price.
In other news, Arsenal have agreed to loan out their ‘promising’ midfielder who has trained with Mikel Arteta’s first team.
