Premier League club are now trying to sign ‘fantastic’ West Ham player on loan

Nottingham Forest have reportedly opened talks with West Ham United over a loan move for Maxwel Cornet.

That’s according to The Daily Mail, which claims Forest are exploring the possibility of taking the West Ham star on loan ahead of Thursday’s deadline.

Maxwel Cornet has barely featured under David Moyes this season, making just two Premier League appearances.

The 27-year-old made the switch to east London back in the summer of 2022 after an impressive spell at Burnley.

But it just hasn’t worked out for the Ivory Coast international so far as he’s made just 16 appearances in the league over the past 18 months.

And it seems that Forest are set to offer the winger a short-term move away from the London Stadium.

Forest in talks over deal to sign Cornet

claims that forest are exploring a deal to sign Cornet on loan, with talks underway.

It’s noted that despite Forest’s restrictions in the transfer market, they are interested in a temporary deal to sign the Ivory Coast star.

West Ham are in the market to sign an attacking player ahead of Thursday’s deadline, with the likes of Jota and Ibrahim Osman heavily linked.

Reports emerged yesterday the Hammers have agreed a deal to sign Jota from Al Ittihad on loan.

Should the Portuguese winger complete a switch to West Ham, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Cornet head out the door.

The winger is undoubtedly a ‘’ talent on his day but he’s struggled to make a real impact at West Ham.

With that being said, he did bag a goal in his last game for the Hammers at Sheffield United and that may just help to ramp up interest in Cornet.

A temporary move for Cornet could be for the best for all parties with the forward currently struggling for minutes at West Ham. And should Jota arrive over the coming days, he would likely fall further down the pecking order for a spot in Moyes’ side.
