Predicting Leeds’ next five debutants: Striker to get chance under Bielsa; four summer signings also included

Cody Drameh became the latest in a very long line of players handed a Leeds United debut by Marcelo Bielsa last month, with the right-back starting the Carabao Cup tie with Arsenal.

Drameh has joined the likes of Joe Gelhardt and Charlie Cresswell in being promoted from the under-23s this term. And the exciting news for Leeds fans is there are a host of names waiting to follow in their footsteps.

With the international break nearly over, here is our prediction concerning the next five Leeds players to make their debut for Bielsa’s men…

Kristoffer Klaesson

Kristoffer Klaesson has been Illan Meslier’s backup throughout the season. His form for the under-23s has been mixed. But if Leeds lose Meslier to injury or suspension, Klaesson will surely get a chance. The FA Cup third round is not too far away either.

Lewis Bate

Lewis Bate is potentially the biggest loser following the outstanding performance of Adam Forshaw against Leicester. Previously, it had appeared that Bate was on the cusp of a chance. That first-team opportunity will come. But Forshaw’s display has potentially meant that he may have to wait a little longer.

Leo Hjelde

Like Klaesson, Leo Hjelde is one of the players within the under-23s with first-team experience. He has also been on the bench for the first-team despite only arriving in the summer. The Norwegian can play at left-back or centre-back. So he ticks a lot of boxes.

Sean McGurk

Another summer signing, Sean McGurk has been outstanding for the under-23s. He has scored a number of goals since his move from Wigan, including the opener in Leeds’ Premier League Cup win on Monday night.

Max Dean

Max Dean looks to have everything required to become a real Elland Road hero. The striker is into double figures for goals at under-23 level despite only turning 17 earlier this year. His fiery temperament on the pitch can get him into trouble, but the supporters absolutely love him for it.
