‘Powerful’ player has made it clear he wants to join Arsenal after his club offer him a new contract
Arsenal have now officially announced their first signing under new sporting director Andrea Berta — a bargain deal to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea.
Berta won’t be judged on the back-up goalkeeper he’s been able to sign for Arsenal this summer, but it’s a positive start and Kepa is a clear upgrade on Neto, who will return to Bournemouth.
And before Berta addresses some of Arsenal’s more expensive acquisitions this summer, a new striker and an elite left-winger, it seems as if the Italian is going to work on squad depth available to Arteta.
That explains why Arsenal have won the race to sign Christian Norgaard, and why they are also in the market to find a new centre-back.
Jakub Kiwior wants to leave Arsenal this summer despite his minutes towards the end of the season.
And if things go to plan, Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera will be his replacement.
Cristhian Mosquera has just told Valencia that he wants to play for Arsenal
That being said, journalist Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on Mosquera’s situation, who has just been offered a new contract by Valencia.
However, in talks with the Spanish club, who Mosquera has ‘maximum respect’, he still made it very clear that he wants to become an Arsenal player.

Sharing his update on YouTube, Romano said: “Valencia have offered a new deal to Cristhian Mosquera with an important salary.
“My understanding guys is that Mosquera’s desire is very clear, Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal.
“Mosquera wants to play for Arsenal, now it’s on Valencia and Arsenal to reach an agreement on the transfer fee.
“The first bid of €14m/15m got rejected, Arsenal will be back to the table with a new proposal so for sure the conversation will continue, club to club.
“And the desire of the player is to go to Arsenal — Valencia can try their efforts of course, he has maximum respect for the club, but my feeling is that Mosquera is leaning towards a move to Arsenal.”
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal defence could look very different next season
Whilst most of the fan focus is understandable on Arsenal’s attack right now, there could also be significant changes to make note of in Arteta’s defence for next season.
Kieran Tierney has now left to re-join Celtic and Oleksandr Zinchenko might join Kiwior in seeking a new challenge for the 2025/26 campaign.
Therefore, Arsenal would look a little light right now when it comes to back-up in central areas.

Fortunately, several of Arsenal’s full-backs are also excellent in central areas, the likes of Riccardo Calafiori, Jurrien Timber and Ben White.
But there clearly will be room for a specialist centre-back to come in, and a young player of Mosquera’s ‘‘ profile would be ideal.
Arsenal are chasing a deal for Rodrygo from Real Madrid to add some stardust to their attack this summer, but Berta’s work to improve the overall squad depth available to Arteta can’t be understated.
