Potential Leeds XI for EFL Trophy: Two new signings included
that they have accepted an invitation to feature in next season’s EFL Trophy.
The Whites’ academy has been awarded Category One status this year. And thus, they will enter the competition with an under-21 side.

It will be very interesting to see how seriously Leeds take the tournament. Of course, the main priority will be the Premier League.
But the competition could provide a fantastic opportunity to a number of the club’s brightest young players.
So with that in mind, here is a look at how a potential Leeds lineup could look in next season’s EFL Trophy.

Elia Caprile could be one of three signings from this year who are involved. The January addition was named on the first-team bench on a couple of occasions last term. This competition may provide the 18-year-old with a good opportunity to put some pressure on Illan Meslier.
The back four could also include a new face. Leeds announced on Thursday that they had signed right-back Cody Drameh.
The 18-year-old may be involved in Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team plans. But with Luke Ayling in front of him in the pecking order, he may relish the chance to feature in the competition.
He is joined by Nohan Kenneh, Charlie Cresswell and the versatile Theo Hudson.
Alfie McCalmont is the most senior member of this particular lineup. The Northern Irishman made his first-team debut last season but, understandably, struggled to break into the side over the course of the campaign.
If he does not leave on loan, this may be a good platform for McCalmont.
Alongside him is Bobby Kamwa, but do not be entirely surprised if Adam Forshaw also graces the competition on his way back to full fitness.
Liam McCarron and Stuart McKinstry feature on the flanks, and Niall Huggins is named up front.
The final spot goes to another new addition. In truth, 16-year-old Charlie Allen could play almost anywhere in the final third.
But for now, the former Linfield starlet sits in that central attacking midfield role.
