Portsmouth fans react to reports linking Rangers loanee Ross McCrorie with summer move

Rangers may have to brace themselves for a permanent offer for Ross McCrorie this summer, that Portsmouth are hoping to keep the youngster beyond his loan spell.

It surprised a large section of the Ibrox faithful when McCrorie’s Fratton Park switch was completed last summer.

The 22-year-old had previously played an important role for the Gers, including following Steven Gerrard’s appointment. But the Light Blues boss decided that the academy graduate would benefit from a year away.

He has made 22 appearances for Pompey in all competitions. It has not been the easiest spell for the youngster.

Kenny Jackett has predominantly used McCrorie at right-back this season. He has however, also been used in the much more familiar role of holding midfielder for the League One promotion chasers.

But despite his mixed form, Pompey are looking at attempting to keep McCrorie on a permanent basis, according to the latest report.

The reports have divided some of the Portsmouth fans on social media. Some believe that he would be a fantastic signing – though they admit that they cannot see Rangers sanctioning a deal.

Others however, are less enthused about the reports. They believe that he has not shown enough to vindicate Jackett’s interest and they will not be too unhappy about seeing him return to Ibrox.

Luckily for McCrorie, there are going to be many Rangers fans just as delighted to have him back in Gerrard’s ranks – as long as the Gers snub all interest in him this summer.

Here is how some of the Portsmouth fans have reacted to the reports…
