Rangers are reportedly battling English Championship sides Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town for Portsmouth goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray – and Portsmouth fans have reacted on Twitter.
the 26-year-old goalkeeper is being monitored by Rangers as well as the two second-tier English sides. It is believed a fee of £2.5million would see the uncapped Scotsman given permission to talk to interested parties.
MacGillivray has been crucial in helping Portsmouth keep in touch with the play-off positions in League One, keeping six clean sheets in 21 outings and letting in just 25 efforts – four of which came against Premier League side Southampton.

Rangers do have plenty of options in between the sticks. Allan McGregor remains first choice after Steven Gerrard brought the veteran back to Ibrox, while Wes Foderingham is an excellent back-up option. Andy Firth is third choice.
Jak Alwnick is impressing on loan at Blackpool and is likely to leave while Foderingham continues to be linked with a move down south. It is expected that if MacGillivray joins, he would be back-up to McGregor – until the latter retires.
Portsmouth supporters reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Rangers are interested in luring their goalkeeper to Ibrox for quite a substantial fee. Pompey fans are desperate to see their Scottish stopper remain on the south coast.

Would not make any sense to let Craig go for any amount at this point in the season. As I said only yesterday.. ‘good keepers are not 10-a-penny’! Surely we wouldn’t entertain this when we’re half way trough a season pushing for promotion!

Mediocre GK’s are though and we could spend that £2.5m on two decent CM’s – that are badly needed IMHO
