Portsmouth fans react as Mason Mount celebrates in front of Southampton crowd
Portsmouth-born midfielder Mason Mount enjoyed a moment to savour in Southampton on Sunday afternoon. Mount netted a goal before celebrating in front of the Southampton faithful at The St Mary’s Stadium.
Chelsea midfielder Mount found some space in the box and lashed it past Angus Gunn to put Chelsea 2-0 up in the match on the south coast. It was a special moment for Mount – who was born in Portsmouth and grew up as a fan.
Shortly after Southampton beat Portsmouth at Fratton Park, Mount served up a small crumb of consolation as part revenge. His goal in front of the home Southampton crowd would have given him a lot of pleasure.

After scoring, the England international wheeled away in front of the home fans, wagging his finger to the crowd. He then stopped, faced the crowd and cupped his ears before being mobbed by his Chelsea team-mates.
Portsmouth fans loved Mount’s celebration. Here are some tweets from Pompey fans who watched Mount score and celebrate against Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
